Oktoberfest

CHAPTER 39

~THE FINAL CHAPTER~

What better way to cap off a drawn-out trip to Europe than with a stop in Munich for a bit of beer chugging and sausage gnarling at Oktoberfest. Our party consisted of us, and J and J of course, and then a few of their expat coworkers. This being our second dive into Oktoberfest, we had a slightly better plan of attack than our first foray: rather than don our savage animal faces and fight it out for an outside table against the drunken hordes of other shortsighted festival goers, we this year wisely paid for a reserved table inside one of the beer tents. How responsible of us. And totally worth it considering the price of the table included a few steins of beer and a full roast chicken or two! Coincidentally, did you know that half of the Oktoberfest fair grounds are dedicated to carnival rides? Well I didn’t, and after one ominously boisterous afternoon in the beer tents, we headed to the other side, green reflecto vests at the ready, to waste the rest of our Euros on bumper cars, gondolas, and our all-time favorite, the magic carpet!

To be honest, the weekend was a blur, but I do remember saying some heartfelt goodbyes to J and J as they boarded the U-Bahn for their flight back to London. After which we took one last seat at a beer tent- which was refreshingly calm, it being a Monday afternoon- before our flight home that night. And with that, the Atlas Expedition has come to an end! Please follow along on our next adventure: The Adventures of the Saint Robert!
